It’s interesting.
This guy just came for me in the comment section of one of my articles, accusing me of using ChatGPT to write:
This Guy Called Me an Uneducated Housewife Who Can’t Write Without ChatGPT
I never use ChatGPT to write my articles.
But…
I did use it recently, and it was brilliant!
I’ve been looking for part-time work to get myself out of the house a bit and have a source of steady income. I recently applied for a job and used ChatGPT in four major ways to help me.
1. The cover letter
I wrote out the basics of what I wanted to say and then fed it into ChatGPT to polish it up so it sounded more professional.
It made some great suggestions, and I used it as is.
I sent it off, along with my resume, and received an email the very next day with an invitation to come in for an interview.
2. Interview questions
I’m not the best at interviews because I like to write my words, not speak them. But I knew all I needed to do was practice and be prepared.
I asked ChatGPT which questions I could expect in the interview.
It gave me questions for these categories:
General Questions
Experience & Teaching Style
Classroom Management & Discipline
Communication & Collaboration
Problem-Solving & Scenarios
Work Ethic & Professionalism
Logistics & Expectations
Closing Questions
I had ideas of how to answer most of these, but I also asked it to help me come up with answers so I could fill in any gaps.
Of course, I didn’t answer in the exact way that ChatGPT did because I didn’t want to sound like a robot. But it allowed me to practice what I would say and have answers for things I wasn’t sure about.
I used a combination of ChatGPT’s ideas with my own experience. I felt well prepared when I went into the interview.
But there’s one more thing I wanted to make sure of…
3. Questions to ask
It’s always a good idea to have a list of questions ready to ask the hiring manager (or Principal in this case). It shows that you’re thinking about the job, have researched the company, and want to ensure it’s a good fit.
I naturally already had questions, but I had ChatGPT give me a list to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Some great ones I didn’t think of were:
What is the teacher-to-student ratio?
Will I be working independently or alongside another teacher/assistant?
What are the school’s policies on discipline and conflict resolution?
How does the school handle emergencies or medical situations?
What do you love most about working at this preschool?
Running everything through ChatGPT gave me the confidence I needed to succeed at the interview.
And great news! I was offered the job on the spot.
But…
I decided not to take it.
ChatGPT to the rescue again.
4. The rejection letter
I wanted to send a positive but professional letter to let the Principal know I was passing on the offer.
Don’t you love how positive ChatGPT is? It told me I was amazing for nailing the interview.
(By the way, I told it to only use one emoji ever — 🤘🏻. I love how it complies.)
I used most of the letter and adjusted it to fit my circumstances and make it sound slightly less cheesy.
The Principal wrote back right away, thanking me for letting her know.
Final Thoughts
While I would never use ChatGPT to write my Medium articles, it’s an insanely helpful tool for other areas of life.
It made me feel prepared and confident going into my interview.
I felt good about the resume I sent in for this particular job, but for the next one, I will ask ChatGPT to take a look to make sure I have the most important information covered.
Have you ever used ChatGPT to prepare for your job? Do you have any other tips on better ways to use it for this task? Let me know in the comments.

Chat GPT is an excellent creation for helping guide people with the information they need.
I also use it for guidance and to write in my own words.
I'm thinking of making an instagram post just to show people different ways I use ChatGPT that maybe they didn't think of.. like stock suggestions, homework practice questions for kids, meal planning etc. I'm so glad someone else is writing about it.
