I’m a ConvertKit user myself for the daily newsletter that I do. I thought about moving it as well, but I’m not the tech-savviest guy in the world so I decided to just start a second newsletter here and focus on a different aspect of my main discipline. Best of luck to you! Will be here for the ride :)
Good for you! I still have ConvertKit/Kit, but have also contemplated making the move. This was a great article that gave me a lot (more) to think about!
That’s my intention, and I plan on working smart and listen to those who have been successful at writing on other platforms…and not only that but know how to market it 😉
Looking forward to see how this transfer goes Christina. I'm sure it will go well. If you weren't using Kit's strong feature then it does makes sense the move to Substack in my opinion.
It's one of the reasons I started here. I had no use for those features right now. It doesn't mean I won't use those in the future.
1. I created a new Substack with my name Intellectualists just to have it when I was ready to move it over.
2. I was going to add an image, but it doesn't look like I can do that in the comments. But when you create a post, there's a button at the top that says "Edit Email Header/Footer"
3. I will turn them off for this newsletter because that's not it's purpose. I have payments turned on for my other 2 Substacks.
4. I don't know. I removed cold subscribers, but I'm not sure who was on that list. It was sent from Christina @ Intellectualists.com, but that will change now.
Thanks for your detailed reply. I hope I only have to add the header and footer once, and that it will automatically be added every time I start a new post.
I set up my email for Wednesday and just went in to work on my email for Thursday, and my email header and footer are still in place. So I only needed to set it up once.
For the promos I was wondering whether should I keep a P.S. or add the links in the bullets, so I tested both ways and it works better to add them in the bullets. After all they’re still valuable resources, just paid 😊
Thanks for sharing.

That works too!
(I'm not tech savvy either, but it was super easy to make the move if you ever decide you want to do it.)

I’m happy it helped you think about things. I don’t think there’s any wrong answer. It’s just whatever works best for you.
You've already done a lot. Just use the Substack landing page!
Thank you! I think I figured it out. Now I just hope it all works. lol
Eheh.
Fortunately, Substack has so many tools to grow that you'll find a way to make it work
Christina, that’s good to hear.
I signed up for ConvertKit now Kit back when they offered it free to those who had less than 1000 subscribers, I believe it was.
Never did build it or start using it and now that I know this can be done here, I don’t have to learn yet another platform or program 🥳
Yup! You'll do just fine using Substack.
That’s my intention, and I plan on working smart and listen to those who have been successful at writing on other platforms…and not only that but know how to market it 😉
I like the new colorful version. I'm curious how the move goes for you once all is said and done.
I will definitely be writing about it and keeping everyone informed!

That’s what I figured. I’m not using them, but I ever need to, I can always go back to Kit.
Exactly Christina!
Hi Christina, have you seen https://substackapi.com/ yet? It supports embedding a Subscribe button as well as embedding your feed on your own site.
It breaks from time to time. At least it does for me when I test it out on my website occasionally.
That's a good reminder to test it occasionally!
Oh, good to know, Cheniece - I’ll have to retest mine more often. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I think this is the one Jamie told me about. I'll look into it again. Thank you!
I'll be writing about the results for sure!
So many people move to Substack nowadays. I'm super curious how will it goes for you.
I have a few questions:
1) What do you mean by "placeholder"?
2) How do you set up your header and footer to automatically be included every time you write a new article?
3) Why turn off paid subscriptions on Substack? You can monetize with subscriptions and digital content.
Check out my three publications here, see how the logos kind of form a trinity. That is the whole point, as they are all three connected.
4) I hope you didn't remove me from your email list? What is the email it is sent from?
1. I created a new Substack with my name Intellectualists just to have it when I was ready to move it over.

I'll check out your Substacks!

Did this last week… I was surprised by the sense of relief .
I’m now using a couple of email sequences to sell my offers and an evergreen sequence to promote the newsletter
That sounds great, Mark! I may get there someday with the sequences...
I guess everything went well with the move?
Interesting and welcome. Only caveat: Substack isn’t free but takes a % so it’s o my free until you don’t charge money :)
True!
Love this!! And my pleasure :)
Also, I think #4 is a great option to start, it's simple, and you can change it after if you wanted to.
#4 is the way I'm going to go for now. Thanks for confirming.
For the promos I was wondering whether should I keep a P.S. or add the links in the bullets, so I tested both ways and it works better to add them in the bullets. After all they’re still valuable resources, just paid 😊
That's good to know!
Awesome post! I love the new colorful look, too. 🧡💛💚
Thanks so much!
